Centrifugal Casting Gold Rings

I recently shot a video while my husband and I cast a pair of gold rings. This is my first edited video using iMovie, which was pretty fun. I hope you enjoy watching this jewelry making process...

I plan on shooting more videos in the future...hopefully they will get better. ;)

Friday at the bench...

This week was busy with finishing and shipping lots of orders (wholesale and Etsy). I'm happy to say that next week I will be able to breathe a little easier and concentrate my my terribly neglected office work!

Today, Ben and I poured ingots and pulled wire for a custom ring I need to make. I will have plenty of wire left over, so be on the lookout for some new stacking rings in 14k white, yellow and pink gold... (well, when I'm done with my office work, anyway)

HOT METAL!

My husband, Ben, teaches at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, a public residential high school for emerging artists. When he told me they were going to be doing a bronze casting, I immediately grabbed my camera, hopped in the car and drove over! I am hoping to document the entire process: wax sculpting, spruing, layering the ceramic shell investment, burn out, casting, clean up. But for now, here are some images of the casting...
